One week away from the official start of the season, the Spartans had a practise hit-out on home soil against the North Old Boys. The match was played over 4 x 20 minute quarters with the Spartans showing that they are raring to go for their Round 1 clash this week against Ormod. The Spartans had 34 scoring shots and ended up winning by 77 points as they proved to strong for the North Old Boys team.

The coaching staff rotated the squad using the opportunity to get a last glance at each player before the opening bounce of the season on Saturday 9th April. With stand-in captain Ioannidis was leading by example in defence, Doubakis providing a strong presence up forward and a rampant Pipertzis in the midfield, the Spartans took control of the match early and put together a solid four quarter and TEAM performance.

A special mention must be made of Tomazou's second half which produced two sensational goals - both followed by soccer-style celebrations.

The only sour note on the day was a couple of injuries suffered by Zambitoglou, Terzoglou and Mitropoulos. The extent of the injuries is not known at this stage, but all three will undergo fitness tests during the week to prove their availability for the Spartans first official encounter.
